Linda Carter
Linda joined the Barefoot team in September 2017 as an Associate Consultant in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Linda has 30 years experience working in the health and community services system. Her broad experiences range from Public Health Nursing practice to leading the development of provincial policy frameworks, policies and programs with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
During her career, Linda’s area of interest has been in the field of public health, particularly related to health promotion, healthy living, healthy public policy, community action and engagement, healthy communities, and chronic disease and injury prevention. These areas of interest have enhanced her knowledge and built partnerships in healthy living areas such as healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco control, breastfeeding, parenting and early childhood development; and in chronic disease areas including arthritis, cancer, diabetes, stroke, heart and kidney disease. In these areas Linda has had the opportunity to work on provincial, Atlantic and National committees and projects.
Linda’s strength is in building relationships. She believes in team work – bringing people together and working through a process to find solutions. Linda’s facilitation and leadership skills support this approach. Early in her career she was trained as a facilitator and has used these skills in all aspects of her work life. Over the years she has continued to learn and grow through policy development opportunities and leadership and management certifications.
Linda is a graduate of Memorial University School of Nursing and was valedictorian and presented the student achievement award upon graduation.
