Learning for Health:  Health Literacy Embedded Learning Demonstration ProjectPublic Health Canada

This project is a national initiative to engage three community-based organizations and facilitate collaboration and partnerships with their broader community networks to support health literacy embedded learning.

“Gerard is a superb facilitator who can work with diverse teams to achieve tangible results. For the ‘Learning for Health’ Health Literacy Project, Gerard worked with community groups to help them understand how health literacy affected their clients, and then act to improve health literacy in their organizations. Gerard tailored his training and facilitation approach to the unique needs of each community, and created lively and engaging learning sessions. I hired Gerard to create similar tools for a health literacy session for public health experts in 2011, and requests are still coming in to use and adapt these tools, based on Gerard’s presentation of the subject.
What I very much appreciate is that Gerard works diligently with his client to understand expectations and desired outcomes, and then comes up with an approach that meets the client’s needs. It never feels as if I am getting a “cookie cutter” facilitated session with Gerard.”
